Bible Benedictions

The use of bible benedictions is an ancient form of closing a public worship service. Bible verse benedictions are also used in funerals. They are a form of blessing - that is, a scripture benediction calls upon God to bless the people in the congregation.

Numbers 6:24-26
The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. (NIV)

This passage may be the most well know and popular bible benediction.

1 Kings 8:57
May the LORD our God be with us, as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us or forsake us. (NASB)
