Bible Proverbs from Chapters 1-5
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (KJV)Proverbs 1:8 Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. (NIV) Proverbs 1:10 My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them. (NIV) Proverbs 2:1-11 My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. (NIV) Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV) Proverbs 3:11-12 My child, do not despise discipline from the Lord, and do not loathe his rebuke. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, just as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights. (NET) Proverbs 4:23 Guard your heart with all vigilance, for from it are the sources of life. (NET)

(NIV)Proverbs 10:12 Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. (NIV)

Proverbs 11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. (KJV)Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. (KJV) Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. (KJV) Proverbs 18:24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. (KJV) Proverbs 19:1 Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity Than he who is perverse in speech and is a fool. (NASB)
